My True Self
I am Amrita Das, a student of class XI. I felt great getting good marks in my Madhyamik exams because it showed that my hard work had paid off. But these marks are just a few numbers written on a piece of paper. I am someone who loves to think deeply, imagine big things and enjoy every little moment of life. One day, at a cultural function organized by my school, I presented a recitation. At first, I was very nervous, but also excited to speak. I practiced many times at home so that I could recite clearly. When I stood on the stage, my hands were shaking. Instead of recalling my academic intelligence, I only thought to complete my recitation smoothly. So, I took a deep breath and started. My confidence restored when I saw the people were listening carefully. By the time I finished, I felt proud of myself. I got the first prize and that day I realized that who I really am beyond my school merit, marks and grades. I understand that being smart is not just about writing the right answers in the exam paper. Real intelligence is being a good listener, showing love to family and friends, understanding the world around me and staying strong even in difficult situations. My true identity is made up of my small dreams for the future, the values taught by my family and the good qualities that I try to share with others, which a report card can never show. My exam results are just a happy milestone on my journey, but my true self is built every day through my kind words, honest decisions, and positive goals for the future.
